It’s the Final Countdown! End of Support for Windows 10, Office 2016 and Office 2019 on 14th October
14th October 2025 is going to be a big day for Windows and Office users, as Microsoft will be killing off support for the following:
• Windows 10 (all versions)
• Microsoft 365 Apps (i.e. the current version of Microsoft Office) on Windows 10
• Microsoft Office 2016
• Microsoft Office 2019
Windows 10
If you have any Windows 10 computers now is the time to start upgrading to Windows 11.
Some Windows 10 machines may need to be replaced as there are strict hardware requirements for moving to Windows 11. You don’t have to replace all your Windows 10 PCs at once. You can upgrade individual computers of course, or you can plan on replacing them in smaller batches.
Ask us about leasing/finance too for new PCs and laptops!
Office 2016 and Office 2019
Support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 will end on October 14, 2025 and there will be no extension and no extended security updates.
All of your Office 2016 and Office 2019 apps will continue to function. However, you could expose yourself to serious and potentially harmful security risks.
What does this mean for my business?
- Microsoft will no longer provide technical support, bug fixes, or security fixes for Office 2016 and Office 2019 vulnerabilities which may be subsequently reported or discovered. This includes security updates which can help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.
- You’ll no longer receive Office 2016 and Office 2019 software updates from Microsoft Update.
- You’ll no longer receive phone or chat technical support.
- No further updates to support content will be provided and most online help content will be retired.
What do we need to do now?
If you continue to use these software programs after that date, you will increase your business’ exposure to security risks. It may also affect any legal or compliance obligations you may have, such as Cyber Essentials and PCI DSS for card payments.
We recommend you upgrade your old Office 2016 and Office 2019 licenses to Microsoft 365.
Microsoft 365 licenses are always eligible for the latest updates as long as you pay your subscription, and you can install your license on up to 5 PCs/Macs that you use.
Please speak to your Sales contact to sort out your upgrade as soon as possible.
